Hi, Doris! Thank you so much for your comment. Unfortunately, it often happens that actors don't match the descriptions of the books. Sometimes we imagine people to look completely different.

I haven't read the books, but I know Tyrian is supposed to be hideous. It would have taken a lot of prosthetics and makeup every time Peter Dinklage was on screen to make him fit the novel's description exactly. Since Dinklage is naturally handsome, he brushed up quite nicely as Tyrian. I've already had a comment saying Tyrian should be number 1 on the list.

Thank you again for your wonderful comment and I wish you a pleasant week!

Poppy, I enjoyed your article. I have not seen any episodes of Game of Thrones because I don't subscribe to HBO. However, a year or so before the series debuted, I spent two months at home with a broken leg, so I read the entire series of books as I recuperated. I was very unhappy with the ending because (spoiler here) there was no ending. Dear Mr. Martin ran off to write other books and left me languishing. I wondered how a series could be made that left everybody in a quandary, but Mr. Martin promises to finish it before the series ends.

I will say that, at least to me, many of the descriptions of the men in the books do not match the actors. Jon Snow was my favorite character, and the actor, great looking as he is, isn't at all how I had Jon Snow pictured. To me, Khal Drogo was a nasty character, very unlike Jason Momoa (she drools here). And the description of Tyrian Lannister made me ill just to think about him. They've really handsomed him up. ("Hansomed" is that a word?") I won't go any farther since I read those books five or six years ago and have forgotten some of the guys. However, I do remember finding Daenerys to be my least favorite major player. I think it is because in the book, Martin did not do a good job of introducing her relevance to the story. Apparently the beautiful actress who plays her makes up for it.
