Real Housewives of Atlanta: Who is the Richest?

Updated on October 28, 2014

Rags to Riches?

The Real Housewives of Atlanta have a lot of atttude, but do they have a lot of money? Despite the cars, houses, and the seemingly endless bragging about designer labels, it turns out that some of the Real Housewives of Atlanta aren't exactly on easy street. Find out below who can justify the 'tude, and who can't.

How Rich Are They?

Kandi Burress: Net Worth $35 million

Hands down, Kandi is the richest of the Atlanta Housewives. A singer, songwriter, and record producer, this girl has done well for herself. She certainly has an impressive resume.

  • former member of the band Xscape
  • holds a Grammy award
  • songwriter for artists including Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Alicia Keys

And her empire keeps growing. She started the following companies:

  • Bedroom Kandi
  • Kandi Koated Entertainment (a production company)
  • T.A.G.S. Boutique
  • Kandi Factory (a new reality competition show that grants a recording contract to the musical artist)

All of this, and Kandi remains the most humble of the group. Kudos to her for keeping her head on straight!

Nene Leakes: Net Worth $4.5 million

Nene has a big personality. Thanks to Bravo TV, she has a big bank account to match. She is the highest paid housewife on the show, earning $750,000 per season.

Nene used her RHOA fame to turn herself into a brand. Her numerous television appearances include The Ellen Degeneres Show and Jimmie Kimmel Live, but her big break came when she was cast on Celebrity Apprentice by Donald Trump. If you watched season four, you heard Nene mention Trump's name 1,000 times or more: funny considering that she quit Celebrity Apprentice on the tenth episode.

After that, Nene landing a recurring role on Glee and was now a series player on The New Normal. Nene divorced her husband, real estate investor Gregg Leakes, but if season five is any indicator there may be a reconciliation in the works.

Phaedra Parks: Net Worth $2.4 million

A self-described "Southern Bell," Phaedra Parks has manners. Through all of the show's drama and fights, Phaedra never arrives anywhere without a gift and a kind word—what she says behind people's backs notwithstanding.

How did Phaedra make her money? She is an entertainment attorney and managing partner of the Parks Group PC law firm. She was also a legal analyst for NBC and Fox news.

Her marriage to asset recovery specialist Apollo Nida caused quite a stir on the show. He has a net worth of $400,000 and is a convicted felon, having served five years for receiving stolen goods. Oh boy. I'm pretty sure a hostess gift can't make that social faux pas go away.

Phaedra is a dedicated business woman. She was quick to monetize her new found fame and started not one, but two new businesses. She is opening a funeral home and has just launched a new workout video.

Kim Zolciak: Net Worth $1.5 million (With Husband $5 million)

One thing can be said about Kim: She is who she is, with no apologies. Kim broke onto the scene with the Real Housewife franchise and quickly worked it to her advantage. She has made several TV appearances, including The Ellen Degeneres Show.

The biggest boon to her bottom line, financially speaking of course, was the release of her "Don't Be Tardy to the Party," which was written and produced by Kandi Burruss. This song was bound to be a success. Kim also has a jewelry and wig line. Her husband, professional football player Kroy Biermann, pulls his weight in the relationship with his own net worth of $3.5 million.

Kenya Moore: Net Worth $1.5 million

Former Miss USA Kenya Moore seems to have built her identity around that title. (Side note for Miss Kenya: Remember that self-esteem comes from within!)

Kenya has appeared on numerous tv shows including:

  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
  • Living Single

In 2008 she started her own production company, Moore Vision Media. If you watch the show, you will already know about the big workout video drama between Kenya and Phaedra. Whose video will make you booty-licious??

Porsha Stewart: Net Worth $500,000

Porsha joined the show in Season 5. She is the granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams and she helps run the Atlanta-based nonprofit organization, Hosea Feed the Hungry.

Porsha is married to former NFL player Kordell Stewart, which brought her net worth up to $16 million before the couple separated.

At 31 years of age, Porsha is the youngest member of the show. Through most of the season there was quite a generation gap between the ladies, or maybe it was just personalities clashing.

Cynthia Bailey: Net Worth $50,000

Cynthia, you're gorgeous!

As a professional model, this girl was already popular and successful before joining the show. Her pre-RHOA achievements include:

  • two appearances on the cover of Essence
  • modeling for Oil of Olay and Maybelline
  • appearances in magazines including Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Fair
  • advertising face for department stores Neiman Marcus and Lord and Taylor
  • television appearances on The Cosby Show and New York Undercover and a co-hosting gig on BET TV

So what happened to all of her money?!? Last year, she married Peter Thomas, the owner of Atlanta's Uptown Restaurant. Thomas was estimated to be worth $3 million. Uptown is now closed and the couple speaks openly that they are having financial troubles.

Both have kept their chins up and moved on to new ventures. Cynthia opened the Bailey Agency School of Fashion and Thomas opened Bar One in Atlanta.

Nene Leakes brags about her money too much, that's how people get the idea to sue rich folks for dumb reasons. If these women would work together by networking, they would be an example to other Brown women all over the earth.

Cynthia has to watch for her husband's poor business dealings. He doesn't want to account to her although she frequently invests in his ventures. She has lost a lot of cash with him. It will eventually lead to divorce and a bankruptcy for her. He doesn't care if things fail because it is basically her money. He goes off and make decisions without her. Wake up Cynthia Bailey. I was there!!!!!!!!

Reading some of these comments. Right is right and wrong is wrong.

Phaedra should have apologized when she discovered her man lied on Kenya. (That why I can respect Kandi. When she's wrong she's wrong and does the right thing and does not let her personal thoughts prevent her from doing what is right. PERIOD.)

Phaedra has no class for someone so educated. I can recall all her "class" discussions and then discussing place sugar in her private places right in front of Kandi's mom-talk about classless. I recall when she met Peter and discussed how she couldn't have anything but a clean man (convicted felonies left and right) and insulted Cynthia's husband. Where was her class? I was thinking didn't your mother tell you to be careful what you say in front of people when you don't know their history and background. You had your baby before you were married, just admit it instead of walking around sounding stupid saying you don't know the due date. Who goes around everywhere thinking everywhere but the south is the devil (small time thinking). These vacations was probably the first time she has left the state. She knew her husband was hustling. Every-time you turn around everyone around her is being incarcerated except her. (??? Representing hustlers and rappers paying you cash). As far as being a top attorney......pleeeaaassseeee.

What attorney mentions a good attorney knows the judge in court? That implies bias in decisions taking place in the courtroom. When Sherre's husband got the drop her in court, she looked like a fool. Sherre called her out stating she didn't know what she was doing in court and that was so 100% true. Your behind is not the worth of a woman. Fake Phaedra.

Kenya made her own money and it's interesting how Porsha didn't feel she needed to apologize. No one remembers how the girls talked so bad about her, made fun of her dog dying, and threw their marriages in her face. Porsha married for money, that's all her and her mother discussed was how much money he told them he would give her. She let the cat out of the bag on Cordell but she never once said I loved him. She loved lifestyle. That girl is the definition of a disgrace to the race and to women's achievements. She can't produce a thought. All she can do is look pretty. No brain, no sense, and shes not a mature woman. She acts like a little girl that can disrespect peoples time and play games...........Cynthia got her straight and I was happy about that. Arriving way late and acting like everyone else's time is irrelevant. She still thinks the only way to make money is to lay on her back and marry. Burning bacon, setting off smoke alarms. Let's keep it real.

FAVORITE QUESTION: "How do you spell scepter? We'll wait."

Cynthia, much respect. You are amazing. You have a modeling career that spans decades and you look amazing and I wish you the best with your business endeavors. You should have so many more business opportunities and ways to create wealth. Perhaps your own (skinny) wine or fashion consulting business.

NeNe. I think it's dangerous for women to think "Pretty Woman" can happen for everyone. Women can do a lot more than strip on a pole, that is not a career, and in the real world it's unacceptable to believe quality comes for this lifestyle. She's the exception and not the rule. It is common knowledge that many women who dance have father abandonment issues, have been sexually abused and molested. Taking off your clothes for a living is not one's only option. I can't endorse. I'm happy her life worked out and she and Greg are great together. Women need to understand quality men of certain levels will not date or MARRY certain women.

I could not continue to endorse negative african american imagery of the african american women. Always presented over-sexually and angry. Hey "*itches" is not an appropriate way to greet your sister. Competing with one another, backstabbing, and wishing someone disaster rather than celebrating them. Stereotypes played out in the world so others can say "look how ignorant they act." I would love to have a panel of people sit (non African American) of all other races and genders really share what they feel about the show. I would bet money it would be an eye awaking experience for African American women. I don't want people to have a view of ignorant, ghetto acting-Loui stiletto'd, over-sexualized, gold-diggers who feel entitled to the world but give very little to anyone else. That is not an image I can support and I encourage you to examine what you feed your mind.

I was listening to a speaker who said appealing to the man at his lower nature is not the way you want to present yourself. Start off small and grow like most things in nature. He said he didn't want a woman who asks for more and more and more. Encouraging a man to get in debt. Debt is slavery and a man can not be his best when he is overwhelmed in debt with a dissatisfied woman who don't get a "d*mn" she just wants more and more and more.

Love is not based on shopping sprees, purchases that costs more than the down payment on a house (owning not renting/pretending), and tons of money. These shows give gold-diggers fuel to believe in an unrealistic lifestyle rather then promoting being educated or business savvy. I'm just saying.

These women need to grow up surely they have more to do with their lives! Drama and ignorance has taken over Too much drama and ignorance!! Yes I know everybody is out to make a buck! Kandi and Claudia both have too much class for all this ignorance!! One would think Nene would move on to Hollywood and Broadway! Nene don't keep stooping grow up

I knew Kandi was a boss. She is an entrepreneur in addition to her writing and accomplished song-writer. I love her mindset of building more wealth by purchasing a foreclosure (even at her level) and making it work. Great head on her shoulders and she has integrity and is true to her thoughts and feelings and down to earth.

Cynthia needs a better business manager and public relations person. She is beautiful and has a history/experience in the modeling world and should be making far more money.

I don't believe this. Other articles say Kenya isn't worth anything. She was evicted from her apt for not paying her bills. She hasn't produced anything. And, Porsha has a new job, a hairline, lingerie line. So, it is my belief this is inaccurate information.

Bravo go Phaedra parks! Keep on working hard and take good care of those two loving tots. And a big thanks to grandma parks! And by the way sister, there's no need to apologise to Kenya. I watch the show with great scrutiny , I've observed her behaviour in the past and you are doing the right thing. Go girl!

I have watched this show from Day 1 when it was NeNe,Lisa, Deshawn, Sherae, and Kim, and if I'm not mistaken there was another girl on there but I can't remember who she was because she left the show early. But I have loved all of the girls over the years and I think that Porshia is a good addition to this season I think she is as cute as a button but I'm not quite sure about Kenya, I think she is a little beside herself. She is not housewife material and is kinda crazy too. Maybe Kenya is the one that NeNe was talking about when she said they need to replace one of the housewives.
