Recap: Hawkins and PTSD

Season 2 opens with a girl who's just like Eleven. She has a tattoo of "008" on her arm and also has supernatural powers. She manages to rob a bank and get away with it, along with her gang. Meanwhile, the boys are intrigued by the new girl, Maxine Mayfield aka Max, and Joyce has a new boyfriend named Bob Newby. Hopper, on the other hand, is investigating a rotting pumpkin field.

Everyone from Hawkins who knew what really happened to Barbara and Will hasn't move on. Will has been experiencing PTSD, Mike is miserable for losing Eleven, and Nancy is filled with guilt over Barbara's death. She wants to tell Barbara’s parents, but Steve thinks it’s a bad idea. As her relationship with Steve grows apart, Nancy gets closer to Jonathan for always being by her side.

Will, who seems to be having hallucinations from his traumatic experience in the Upside Down learns that those aren't just hallucinations. The monster has inhabited his body and is using Will to spy on what's happening in Hawkins to cause chaos once again.

Eleven, whom everyone thinks is gone after her fight with the Demorgorgon isn't really dead. Hopper has hidden her away from everyone to keep her safe. However, she’s becoming more and more impatient day by day for not being able to see Mike and everyone else.

Recap: The Mind Flayer

Out of anger and misery, she ends up breaking Hopper's rule of not going out the house when she accidentally learns about her mother and her real identity from some boxes she found hidden in the house. After finding her mother, she learns about her sister too and finds her. When things don’t go well and she realizes that Hopper and her friends from Hawkins are the ones who truly care about her, she goes back to Hawkins, especially after discovering that they’re in danger.

Dustin, along with Steve, Max, and Lucas have been trying to find a creature that Dustin found in the garbage outside his house. He has developed a fondness over the slug-looking creature, but it's been getting bigger and dangerous. Just as they thought they finally found the creature, they are surprised to see that there’s more of them.

Hawkins is in danger from a pack of creatures that have started to attack the Hawkins lab where Will is being kept and treated. Mike, Joyce, and Hopper manage to escape with Will's unconscious body. However, Bob dies from a gruesome attack. Out of fury, Joyce is determined to kill the Mind Flayer. Her plan works and saves Will once again. Eleven also saves everyone by closing the gate that allows those pack of creatures and the Mind Flayer to attack Hawkins.

After a month, Nancy finally exposes Barb's death, and Owens who was injured in the laboratory survives his injuries. He forges a birth certificate for Eleven with Hopper as her father. The season finally ends with Eleven, Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max attending the winter dance at school. However, in the Upside Down, the Mind Flayer seems to still be alive, watching the group.
