10+ Unforgettable, Hilarious and Iconic "RuPaul's Drag Race" Quotes!

Brittany's been a huge fan of "RuPaul's Drag Race" since the show premiered, and she's proudly re-watched every season multiple times!

The Best RuPaul's Drag Race Quote

The Best RuPaul's Drag Race Quote

With a show like RuPaul's Drag Race, there are so many hilarious and outspoken personalities, so it's bound to have hundreds of memorable moments, quotable quotes, and fierce fights. After eleven seasons of the show, the fans definitely have a list of favourite speeches, quotes, moments, and more.

I could easily make an article of 200 of the best quotes from the show, but I have a life outside of writing about Drag Race (like watching Drag Race, for example), so we'll have to settle for the 10+ best Drag Race quotes, instead.

I'll RuPaulogize in advance if I forget your favourite quote!

1. "Water off a Duck's Back"- Jinkx Monsoon

rupauls-drag-race-quotes

Our Season 5 winner, Jinkx Moonson coined this phrase during their run on the show. Despite going on to nab the crown, Jinkx was the underdog for most of the season and faced criticism from the judges and their competitors, alike. During the critiques, Jinkx began chanting the "water off a duck's back" mantra to themselves as a way to stay positive in the face of the negative critiques. It looks like Jinkx's optimism and perspective paid off as they went on to win the season, even against fierce queens like Alaska, Detox and Roxxxy Andrews.

Honourable Mention: "Halleloo"

Shangela's iconic catchphrase, "Halleloo!" A mix of hallelujah and...who knows?

2. "Go Back to Party City, Where You Belong!"- Phi Phi O'Hara

Season 4 has one of the best rivalries in RuPaul's Drag Race herstory. It's the story of former "pageant" queen, Phi Phi O'Hara, who really had no respect or appreciation for Sharon Needles and her "spooky" style of drag. The two often were at odds in the werkroom and backstage, but this was the moment where it all came to a head. Despite Phi Phi's outburst, Sharon went on to win the season, and thankfully the girls have become friends. But we'll never forget this iconic quote!

Honourable Mention: "Miss Vanjie"

In what was easily the most memorable farwell quote, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo backed off the runway chanting her own name, marking her place in Drag Race hall of fame, and earning a (so far well deserved) place in Season 11 of the show.

3. "Not Today, Satan, Not Today."- Bianca Del Rio

Season 6's winner, Bianca Del Rio, actually had PLENTY of quotable quotes during her season, but this one went viral. I remember seeing it quoted all over the internet after the season aired; shared on Tumblr by numerous people, even shared on Facebook by people who I knew weren't even drag race fans, or knew where the saying came from. In the context of the show, Bianca was responding to some shade from fellow contestant, Courtney Act, but the phrase ended up being one you can use in so many situations outside of Drag Race.

Honourable Mention: BAM!

Alexis Mateo (funnily enough, the drag mother to previous honourable mention, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo) coined this phrase during her run in Season 3. BAM!

4. "Look How Orange You Look, Girl!"- Alyssa Edwards

rupauls-drag-race-quotes

Another historic rivalry in Drag Race herstory was the one between Coco Montrese and Alyssa Edwards during Season 5. The two queens had their own history together; a long and almost Shakespearean tale about pageants, not fulfilling requirements, dethroning and betrayal. Anyway, the tension carried on to the show and was easily seen in the werkroom between Alyssa and Coco. This moment was one where the dislike boiled over and we were blessed with this hilarious moment/future catchphrase.

At least Coco found some humour in it and returned to All Stars fully living in her Doritos realness.

She's not joking!

Honourable Mention: Hiiiiiiiieeee!

We all know Alaska for her nasally "Hiiiiiiiieeee!" but did you actually know this catchphrase was first brought to the show by Season 1's Ongina?

5. "This Is Not RuPaul's Best Friend Race!"- Lashauwn Beyond

Let's face it, reality contestants always have issues between those who plan to make friends with all their competitors, and those who are simply there to complete (hence the oft-repeated reality TV phrase, "I'm not here to make friends"). Lashauwn Beyond was definitely in the latter category during Season 4, when she gave Jiggly Caliente some unsolicited feedback after a challenge.

Though, let's be real- would anyone else watch a spin-off show about drag queens competing to be RuPaul's best friend? 'Cause I probably would.

Honourable Mention: Party!

We couldn't escape Adore Delano saying "party!" during Season 6.

6. "Because I Am What? Sickening!"- Shangela

"Time out, hold up. Hold up, sweetheart. Let's get it together before you wanna read. I don't have a sugar daddy, sweetheart. Everything that I've had, I've worked for, and I worked for to get and I've built myself. So you need to know that 100%. I don't have a sugar daddy, I've never had a sugar daddy. If I wanted a sugar daddy, yes, I probably can go out and get one, because I AM WHAT? SICKENING. You could never have a sugar daddy because you are NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL. Baby, everything I've had I worked for, and I've gotten myself. I built myself from the ground up!"

One of the best moments/rants/speeches in Drag Race herstory. 'Nuff said, really.

Honourable Mention: Absolutely

I wonder if Gia Gunn knew when she was filming Season 6 that she'd turn out to be so memeable?

7. "Well, Guess What, Mimi? We Did."- Raven

The Queens and the rest of the fandom like to pretend like All Stars 1 never happened (that really was a rough spot), but this is one of the BEST moments, ever, in Untucked. There's so many quotable moments: Alexis saying, "Act the fool, girl", Tammy screaming, "Well, c'mon Teletubby, teleport us to Mars!", Yara's shady, "They need someone to go home first" and, of course, Raven's epic read to Mimi.

It still makes me laugh every time I hear Raven say," You, Mimi I'mfurst, ME, ME I'M FIRST was number third in the voting, I could not believe it!"

Honourable Mention: Yes Gawd

Laganja Estranga's various catchphrases ("Let's get sickening" "Come on..." "Okurrr" "Well, props to ya, mama!") came off as pretty disingenuous during Season Six, but dammit if we aren't still repeating them now.

8. "She Already Done Had Herses"- RuPaul

Remember the days when each week's main challenge was introduced by a sound clip of RuPaul saying "You Got Shemail" (which was, in turn, a spoof of AOL's "you've got mail" audio + Top Model's "Tyra Mail")? Well, after much controversy, the soundbite got replaced with RuPaul saying, "she already done had herses" which no one really understood the meaning of. Thankfully, there's this hilarious video of RuPaul explaining its origin story.

Honourable Mention: Aww Jesus, Gross

I think we all agreed with those three words when Thorgy Thor was eliminated far too soon in Season 3 of All Stars.

9. "I Feel Very Attacked Right Now!"- Laganja Estranga

rupauls-drag-race-quotes

Looking back, it's easy to feel bad for Laganja Estranga during Season 6. She was relatively young when she went on the show (24) and seemed to be unsure of who she was or rather, who she wanted to present herself as, while she was on the show. She got a lot of flack from both the contestants and judges because of it and while her over-the-top affectations were certainly annoying at the time, I feel a bit more forgiving towards it in hindsight. Anyway, this moment was the boiling point for the cast during Untucked when Adore and Bianca called her out for her Drag Race persona.

Honourable Mention: Henny

There's a lot to love about Season 3 queen, Stacy Layne Matthews, but we all fell in love with her pronunciation of the word, "honey."

10. "You Look like Linda Evangelista"- Aja

"Did you stone those tights?"

Aja has had it, OFFICIALLY, with the judges and their over-praise of Valentina in Season 9. By the time episode 3 rolled around, Aja had felt like she wasn't getting the attention she deserved from the judges, while Valentina was getting praised for everything. I agree that the judges LOVED Valentina, but she did serve stunning looks during her season, and Aja's glow-up didn't really happen until All Stars 3. Oh, well...we'll forever be blessed with this iconic speech from Aja.

Honourable Mention: Back Rolls?!

Alyssa Edwards was SHOOK when Jade suggested we could see her back "fat" rolls during Season 5. She gave us this iconic reaction, which the fandom still loves to repeat.

11. "If You Can't Love Yourself, How the Hell Are You Going to Love Somebody Else?"- RuPaul

This quote goes without explanation; it's said at the end of each and every episode of the show since Season 1 by RuPaul herself, and is a great message to end a show all about love, acceptance, and showing the world who you truly are.

Can I get an amen up in here?

What's your favourite Drag Race quote? Did I mention it on the list or did I forget it (choices!)? Have any new favourites from Season 11 (OPPA-LENS! YOU EARN EVERYTHING!) Let me know in the comments section below!
