8. Gaeko’s Bald Head

Episode 59

The hip hop artists featured in this episode are known for tackling serious and deep emotions. For those who have followed The Movement closely, it is always a joy to see the crew come out of their shell once in a while, especially Gaeko. Gaeko is actually a funny guy, but it does not translate well to TV primarily because he doesn’t have a lot of variety experience.

In this episode, they had to complete obstacles in a kiddie playground, which included flipping over a bar. Gaeko always wears a hat in order to hide his bald head. This was one moment when a hat just wasn't enough. It was hilarious watching him continuously pick up his hat after each flip, even when he knew it would fall off again.

9. PD Almost Exploding

Episode 68

PDs rarely show themselves on camera. For obvious reasons. Their job is to build the show around the cast, not themselves. However, there are times when they simply have to play a bigger part in the show and get some screen time.

In episode 68, Lee Kwang Soo and Ji Suk Jin were assigned to be spies. However, they didn’t understand what their mission was. The PD had to explain it to them over and over again, but the two pitiful spies just couldn’t get it. It was funny when the PD suddenly let out a sigh of frustration that even even the two spies didn’t expect.

10. Hong Kong Opening

Episode 72

Chaos. That’s what made this scene funny.

I remember that this was one of the first episodes I saw of Running Man. I had no idea who their characters were. I thought they were a bunch stand-up comedians, except for Song Ji Hyo whom I recognized from the movie Frozen Flower.

I remember laughing so hard when Lee Kwang Soo forgot to bring his passport. That's so Lee Kwang Soo.

Then there was the forming of the team. Everyone wanted to be chosen by Lee Min Jung and it caused the members to complain, fight and beg just to be chosen. No one listened to anyone and everyone tried to wiggle their way onto Lee Min Jung’s list.

11. Retro Dance With Charlie’s Angels

Episode 80

Yoo Jae Suk loves to dance and, with the exception of Song Ji Hyo, the rest of the Running Man members can groove as well. This motivated them to develop their own signature dance moves. The dancing challenge in this episode is extra funny because the guests were willing and able to go crazy with the members. The result is probably the most hilarious dancing sessions I've ever seen. So many crazy things happened.

  • Hyomin turned a supposedly seductive dance against the wall into a hilarious wall dance and had Gary follow her lead
  • Kim Jong Kook literally threw everyone trying to dance with Goo Ara
  • Lee Kwang Soo’s famous robot dance
  • Yoo Jae Suk’s grand entrance
  • The general wild atmosphere as they came up with the most embarrassing dance steps just to get their temperature up

12. Badminton With Ha Ji Won

Episode 86

Ha Ji Won doesn’t do a lot of variety shows. She’s also very shy but what she lacks in outrageousness, she makes up for with spontaneity and wit.

Ha Ji Won knows that Running Man has a reputation for bending sports rules because it is a variety show and not the Olympics. In this badminton game, they used grocery store product racks as the net. In badminton, when the shuttlecock hits the net, it is still live. The game only stops when the shuttlecock gets stuck in the net.

With a very wide net, the game is naturally affected. Ha Ji Won took advantage of this when the shuttlecock landed “on” the net. She continued the play, proving she can match Running Man’s ability to create funny situations. Running Man members took advantage of the situation by creating further chaos with their whining and complaining.

Ha Ji Won furthered the situation by acting all cute towards her opponents. The Running Man members graciously played along by acting all shy and missing their shots.

Park Ye Jin is one of the most effective guests in Running Man because of her rapport with Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Jong Kook.

13. Married Couple Race

Episode 94

The Running Man cast goes crazy whenever a pretty girl comes on as a guest. Imagine how they reacted when 6 pretty girls appeared on the show.

Their world exploded.

In this episode, the members were each paired with a girl. In their first challenge, each couple was given a quiz. If they gave the right answers, they were allowed to pick a special prize.

14. Park Ji Sung's MC Takeover

Episode 97

Park Ji Sung is one of Running Man’s most hilarious guests. He gets along with everyone and admits (and has proven) that he is a real fan of the show. In fact, he has mentioned several times that he wants to be a regular on the show. When he was first a guest on the show, everyone was expecting a shy and timid Park Ji Sung but barely several minutes into the show, he was already bantering with the rest of the members.

The funniest part was when he took over as MC in Thailand. Yoo Jae Suk had to go back to Korea and asked Park Ji Sung to takeover. The man didn’t disappoint.

He knew the drill and did very well. He bullied Lee Kwang Soo, fought with Haha, knew Gary’s “stress” and made it clear he was the MC. Everyone was surprised at how comfortable he was. It was probably that moment when everyone knew he would become a regular guest.

15. Undressing Lee Kwang Soo

Episode 118

Sometimes, even simple, innocent gestures can be turned into crazy funny situations by Running Man. Lee Kwang Soo, fortunately or unfortunately, is the subject of one of these situations.

In Episode 118, Park Bo Young appeared wearing a shirt with no jacket. It was so cold that even Haha gave his jacket to Kim Jong Kook. Lee Kwang Soo offered his jacket to Park Bo Young. When the other members saw Lee Kwang Soo’s gesture, they decided to call him out for “acting cool” and punished him by ganging up on him and taking off his shirt completely.

Poor Lee Kwang Soo ended up shirtless, in the middle of a field, in the middle of winter.

16. Yoo Jae Suk Pranking Ji Suk Jin

Episode 116

I laughed so hard I was literally lying on the floor. At some point, I laughed so hard that I thought I might die. It took considerable effort to try to calm myself down.

In this episode, Running Man members, and three guests, were divided into three teams. Each team was to complete a challenge in the shortest time possible. The first part of the challenge required the female guests to ride on the back of a male member. Yoo Jae Sook asked Song Ji Hyo to step aside so he could ride on Ji Suk Jin’s back. Even Yoo Jae Sook probably didn't think that the prank would go too far. After all, Yoo Jae Sook is way heavier than Song Ji Hyo.

But Ji Suk Jin not only didn’t notice the weight difference, he also didn’t bother to look up while Yoo Jae Suk rode on his back. The result is Ji Suk Jin running one leg of the relay with Yoo Jae Suk on his back.

Absolutely hilarious.

I Think Episode 211-212 are really funny as well. Every challenge in each team is hilarious specially Lee Kwang Soo and Ji Chang Wook's persimmon challenge. I also laughed so hard when Haha hid their 4170 solution just to be found by Chang Wook in the end.

I thought the HK episode (either ep 73/74) where Yoo Jae Suk had to take a picture of the clue covered by a panda was really funny.
