Isn’t the Sesame Avenue name just one of many of Dwight’s hilarious attempts at trying to make the place seem more appealing as a daycare center instead of Sesame Street the children's show?

Sure, that's plausible. Dunderpedia also lists that as a possibility: "Dwight's daycare center is called "Sesame Avenue Daycare Center For Infants And Toddlers," which was probably inspired by the name of the long-running American children's TV series Sesame Street."

You might be right, but we can agree to disagree. Dwight isn't the most attuned to pop culture, but he did make a reference to "Sesame Street" in season 6 ("The List") when he said, "Is that the program where all those puppets live in the barrio?"
