We Have All the Feels After Seeing the Trailer for the Whitney Houston Biopic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

This movie is gonna make us cry, we just know it.

We still can't believe that Whitney Houston is no longer with us, but hopefully an upcoming biopic can help fill in the gaps. The movie, called I Wanna Dance With Somebody, showcases Houston's beginnings and rise to fame. So of course we pretty much ate up the brand new trailer for movie.

A copy of the trailer found its way to TikTok and was shared by the @sonypictures page.

The trailer starts off with a bang — Houston belting her hit "I Will Always Love You." Oof, we've already got chills.

The AV Club reports that trailer then flashes back to Houston's near perfect performance of the "Star Spangled Banner” at the 1991 Super Bowl. And gives us glimpses of Houston's relationship with her father, John Houston, which became fraught over money issues. The movie also shows Houston's struggle with criticism. In one scene Houston (played by Naomie Ackie) gets frustrated with a radio DJ who accuses her music of "not being Black enough."

Of course, Houston bristles at the claim and tells him that she's not going to be afraid to be who she is. The trailer shows a lot of Houston's happy moments too, including her relationship with fellow musician Bobby Brown. Although it's unclear how much of their relationship will be featured in the movie.

With over 4 million views, people in the comments section were chomping at the bit. "Finally a movie about how she became Whitney Houston and not only focus on her drug use and life with Bobby! But who Whitney Houston was!!!" @britz_with_a_z wrote. "Already crying, so excited for this," @jordyfae chimed in. "I can’t wait to watch this. That woman is so iconic and so beautiful and we miss her so much," @randiguidry agreed.

Here's hoping this movie will bring us a little closer to the woman behind the legacy.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody hits theaters on December 21.
