Raven-Symoné Reveals Disney Wanted Her “That’s So Raven" Character to be LGBTQIA

But she shot it down...

Raven-Symoné is shocking people online after sharing a behind-the-scenes story of her hit '00s Disney show That's So Raven. Apparently, Disney execs had a specific vision for the character of "Raven" and asked Raven-Symoné if she thought Raven should be gay. But Raven-Symoné really nailed why she ultimately decided this wasn't the right move.

The Disney star was totally candid in a clip from an interview she gave recently. And the whole thing was shared by TikTok creator @cartoonishclaude.

"I think Disney wanted her to be Queer in the beginning and I just didn't feel comfortable with that," Raven-Symoné said in the footage. "They were like, 'Do you want Raven to be gay?' I said, 'why?' They said, 'because you are.'"

And we guess this must of been a conversation Raven-Symoné had again with producers while shooting the That's So Raven reboot, Raven's Home

"I said, 'Bad reason. That's a bad reason. No. Raven Baxter never exhibited any type of sexual identity situation in the priors," she added, speaking of the original show.

"I'm not being myself on the show," she added. "I'm being a character. Raven Baxter is not gay, no matter what the first four seasons looked like with me and Chelsea sleeping in the same room and us raising a family together," she joked. "That's not the case. We are friends!"

So many people in the comments section applauded Raven-Symoné for the call. "That makes so much sense. Raven Baxter isn’t Raven-Symoné," wrote one person. "I love how she put it. I like seeing the difference between actress and character," another person agreed. "I love the honesty because she could’ve easily agreed but that’s not her characters truth. At the end it’s acting," a third commenter chimed in.

At the end of the day, Raven-Symoné did what she thought was best for the project. And we have to give her props for that.
