Who amongst us didn't grow up watching Blue's Clues? The beloved Nick Jr. show was a staple in most of our households, but did you ever wonder what happened to the original Steve? Well, there have been a lot of rumors over the years about what actor Steve Burns is up to, and he took on the worst of them in a recent video on TikTok.
Thankfully Burns seems to have a good sense of humor about the lies that were spread about him.
"I'm going to address the rumors about me," he told Variety. "I did not die in a car accident. I did not die of an overdose. This is the worst Dr. Seuss book in history," he joked. "I did not die of a terminal illness."
For most of us, rumors like these would be soul-crushing. But Burns not only took them in stride — he made them worse.
"The death rumors were, at one point, so persistent that I use to try and create my own," he admitted, before sharing an example of one. "I died in a whaling accident in Nova Scotia.
With over 3.6 million views, people online were cracking up. "I’ve literally lived 90% of my life believing Steve was in fact dead, I’m mind blown. Just like I thought he was," one commenter admitted. "Honestly years of looking for clues on this show is what made most of us true crime web sleuths," another person added. "My mom was in love with you. So glad you're alive," another commenter admitted.
While many commenters had their own jokes about Steve's "death."
"Sounds suspiciously like things a man who died in a whaling accident in Nova Scotia would say," one commenter joked. "I’m from Nova Scotia and attempted to rescue Steve. But he drowned," another person kidded. "It's true I'm from Nova Scotia I was there. It's like he's still with us. RIP in peace Steve," a third commenter teased.
We love when a celebrity has a good sense of humor about themselves.
