He's back, y'all! That's right nearly four years after the first Shazam! movie, star Zachary Levi is giving us updates on the light-hearted superhero movie's sequel. And we don't know about you all, but this is the best news we've heard all year.
Levi shared some of the juicy details on Twitter (@ZacharyLevi) on November 7.
"Mark your calendars, y’all! @ShazamMovie! Fury of the Gods – wiser, stronger, faster, funnier, I mean, overall, cooler than the rest (and did we mention humble) coming ATCHA only in theaters on March 17," he wrote.
Levi even included the sequel's very first poster — and gave us all a sneak peek at the superhero's upgraded costume. Not only is our hero dressed in darker colors in the second movie, he's also riding a scooter. So we can tell that this movie is going to be just as goofy as the first one.
People in the comments section were just as excited as we were for the 2023 release. "Poster looks super cool!!! Cannot wait!!" @vivi__23 cheered. "2023 movie of the year incoming," @IDontBeatGames wrote. "Already done! Waiting for March 17 impatiently," @JessLynnWrites added. "Calendar marked!! Brilliant news!" @paulthesitter exclaimed.
Back in July we also got a Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer, which shows a very contemplative Shazam feeling a touch of imposter syndrome.
"There's already a superhero with a red suit with a lightning bolt on it," he says in the clip. "Aquaman is literally huge and he's so manly. And Batman, so cool! And I'm — just me," he laments. "I feel like a fraud."
From the looks of the trailer, he won't have too much time to work on his problems because naturally there's a new threat that Shazam has to defeat.
We are totally excited for this movie and will be there when Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on March 17.
