Halle Bailey Just Shared New "Little Mermaid" Live-Action Poster and Fans Are Just So Darn Happy

Twitter has never been happier.

Can you believe that we have to wait until next spring to see the Little Mermaid live-action movie? It feels like May will never come! Thankfully, the film's star Halle Bailey just shared the brand new poster from the film. And people on Twitter are absolutely chomping at the bit to see it.

If the reveal seems magical that's because it totally is. Bailey herself (@HalleBailey) still seems in shock in her message that accompanied the photo: "Words can’t describe how immensely honored I feel to play the mermaid of my dreams, Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid," she wrote.

Isn't the photo just dreamy? "Come under the sea with me, in theaters May 26, 2023," she added.

The tweet has since been liked over 200,000 times. And people in the comments section were cheering.

"Super proud of you I cant wait to cry to this film," wrote one person. "And we'll be seated for multiple showings," another person joked. "And I'll be watching! I'm sure you're going to be a wonderful Ariel," another commenter wrote. "This is probably gonna be the most amazing things in history as it pertains to entertainment," chimed in someone else.

It seems like there are so many people who are dying to see this movie. In fact, Collider reports that when the teaser trailer was dropped last month it was watched a whopping 104 million times in a matter of days.

Bailey is of course stepping into some very iconic shoes — or flippers, we should say. In a Q and A on her YouTube channel, she explained what it was like when she got the news that she'd be playing Ariel, Billboard reports.

“I was in shock, I didn’t believe it,” she said. “I didn’t think it was true. I thought it was a prank call, but it wasn’t. I was just overjoyed that I get to put my own spin on Ariel and who she is to me and how much she has meant to me this whole time has been so important.”

We can't wait to watch.
