Welp, we guess we know what we'll be doing in 2023 — buying tickets to see the new John Wick movie. That's right, it was recently announced that Keanu Reeves has signed on to do a fourth movie in the series. And a trailer just dropped today that has us more excited than ever.
The trailer dropped in its entirety on Twitter and was shared by the MovieRankings.net (@LightsCameraPod) account. Take a look!
"BREAKING: The first trailer for JOHN WICK 4 starring Keanu Reeves has been released," the tweet reads.
Okay, we're going to need to break this down a bit. According to Variety, John Wick: Chapter 4 features our hero facing off against the Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård) in single combat to win his freedom.
The film's director, Chad Stahelski, told Variety that the fourth movie will delve deeper in to the mythology of the Continental.
“I love a good myth,” he explained. “I don’t really believe — at least for the ‘John Wick’ movies — in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it. You know, we’ve always seen John Wick as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”
Of course, the movie will also feature plenty of guns, knives, nunchucks, speeding cars — and a brand new suit.
People in the comments section were more than ready. "Hell yes!!! Maybe he'll get a new puppy at the end!" @dadoskylr joked. "Oohhhh I’m beyond hyped for this!" @12Colombiano59 exclaimed. "As long as Keanu is still alive they need to keep making these," @pdubs_92 teased. "This looks absolutely electric," @najeesburner22 agreed.
While another commenter summed the trailer up in a few words: "SWORD AND GUN FIGHT SWORD AND GUN FIGHT," @HeyRatty kidded.
The film also stars Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Ian McShane. John Wick: Chapter 4 will premiere in theaters on March 24, 2023.
