In some heartbreaking news, actor John Aniston has died at the age of 89. Aniston was known best for his work on the soap opera Days of Our Lives and has portrayed character Victor Kiriakis since 1985. Aniston was also the father of actress Jennifer Aniston, who opened up about his passing on her Instagram page.
Aniston shared that her father had passed in a heartbroken post on November 11.
"Sweet papa… John Anthony Aniston," she wrote. "You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace - and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time. Don’t forget to visit," she added.
Absolutely devastating. And people online were quick to send their condolences. "Your dad was such a part of so many of ours lives, running home after school to watch Days. I loved Victor. Lots of love to you," wrote stylist Karla Welch. "He brought so many people joy every day in their homes," writer Ira Madison added. Sending you all my angels. I love you sister," Reese Witherspoon chimed in.
Even the Days of Our Lives Twitter account shared a sweet tribute video of the iconic soap actor. "Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston. We love you John. Your legend will live on," the tweet reads.
It's unclear what Aniston's cause of death was as of this reporting.
"John was one of the best — kind, smart, witty and incredibly talented," Series co-creator Ken Corday told People in a statement. "It is enormously fitting that he received the Emmy for Lifetime Achievement this past year."
"There is no question that all of us at Days will be mourning this great and profound loss. John was an icon, but even more so, he was a pillar of strength and unity for our Days of Our Lives community. He, along with our 'Victor Kiriakis,' will forever be in our hearts," he added. "Our love and support goes out to his family and all those who knew him."
Aniston's final episode on the soap opera will air on December 26.
