Attention Jessica Chastain stans (Jessica Cha-stans?), we have some exciting news for you. You can finally see your favorite actress up close and personal — if you can travel to NYC that is. That's right, The Eyes of Tammy Faye Baker star recently announced that she's heading to Broadway. So better buy your tickets now before they sell out ASAP.
The actress made the exciting announcement on her Twitter page (@jes_chastain) on November 16.
"When I sat down with the brilliant Jamie Lloyd 5 years ago to discuss a possible collaboration, I was over the moon when we decided on A Doll’s House. We were set to start rehearsals in London in April 2020, but little did we know what the world (and a pandemic) had in store," she wrote in her message.
In the accompanying video, Chastain talks about how devastating it was when Broadway shut down at the beginning of the pandemic.
"While home in NY, walking around the empty theater district made my heart hurt," she elaborated in a follow up tweet. "New York has been my home for over 20 years and it’s immensely important to me to take care of this city and support my artist neighbors, who all struggled while our theaters were closed for so long."
"So I couldn’t be happier to play Nora in A Doll’s House on Broadway!" she continued. "I’m very excited to work with Jamie and the incredible Amy Herzog in this city that formed me."
The comments section was ready and willing to book their ticket to New York. "Will I travel to New York to see my favorite on stage? More likely than you think! So proud of you, I can’t wait to see you again. Love you," one commenter vowed. "So excited to see you!!" another commenter exclaimed. "I am so, so, so, so happy for you that you get to bring A Doll's House to a stage that holds so much meaning for you," a third commenter agreed.
Ticket details of the upcoming production have yet to be released, but the play is set to open in Spring 2023.
