He's baaaaack! And by he we mean Henry Cavill, who has announced he will return to the role of Superman in future movies. Cavill made the announcement on Instagram following his (spoiler) small cameo in the new Black Adam movie — his first appearance as the superhero since 2017. And fans online are totally here for it.
As Cavill explained online, his recent cameo was only a "very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded," he wrote on October 24.
He finished his post with the hashtag #Superman. Woah! Okay, consider us totally psyched.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill also released a video where he confirmed that he will be returning to the role
“I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman,” Cavill said in a video before thanking his fans “most of all," he added. "Thank you for your support and for your patience."
So far, no details of the project have been announced, so we don't know when Cavill will reprise the role. But the news outlet reported that the intention is for Cavill to star in at least one solo Superman movie with possible appearances in other DC movies while the company takes direction from new bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
People in the comments section of Instagram were happy to hear the news: "Welcome back bro. Told people not to give up hope! Can't wait for the world to see what you have on store," @bosslogic wrote. "I just got so emotional!!!!!! Omg our SUPERMAN!!!!! I’m so beyond happy and grateful you are back! We love you and support you to the end!!!!!!!!!!" @lis.wonder added. While user @nianaguerrero simply wrote: "YES YES YES! HE'S BACK."
It's safe to say that none of us can wait!
