How Have These 1970s Hollywood Hunks Fared in 2020?
The 1970s era was the heyday of the Hollywood hunk. The image seen above has probably the most famous of all the 70s Hollywood hunks, Burt Reynolds (February 11, 1936 – September 6, 2018). He has sadly passed away, but there were many others who fit the bill as well.
They were plastered all over the walls of salivating girls and perhaps more than a couple salivating boys as well, and many members of Generation X will remember them as pin-ups from their favorite magazines. The 70s Hollywood hunks were all the rage during their day and most of us remember them well, so let's have a look at how well they've fared today.
Robert Redford is currently pushing 80. He has since become an accomplished director and producer. He is, without a doubt, one of the most admired actors in Hollywood. Redford is currently married to German-born multimedia environmental artist, Sibylle Szaggars. He is a grandfather to seven children, and he and Sibylle live in Sundance, Utah. As you can see from the image above, Robert Redford is still a Hollywood hunk.
By the way... did you happen to catch the recent Netflix film he made with his Barefoot in the Park (1967) co-star, Jane Fonda? If you are a fan of Redford and Fonda, you must see it, it's called Our Souls at Night (2017) and the story is absolutely beautiful...
Billy Dee Williams
Back in the day, basically no one reacted to Billy Dee Williams with any sense of normalcy. Upon meeting him, most folks simply did not know how to act, as he was played out by the cast in an episode of the popular 1970s sitcom, The Jeffersons.
Today, Williams is still working as a voice actor. He reprised his famed role in the Star Wars universe as Lando Calrissian in recent video games. His most recent high profile role was a spot in the very last film in the space saga, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019). Williams has been married to Teruko Nakagami since the mid 70s. They have two children, and as you can clearly see from the photo above, Billy Dee Williams is still a hunk at 82 years of age.
John Travolta has come a looooong way from his days as Vinny Barbarino, the ultra-hot hunk from the 1970s sitcom, Welcome Back, Kotter. Since his days as a Sweathog, Travolta has emerged as one of the most popular actors in all of Hollywood, and he reached blockbuster status many decades ago.
Today, Travolta is mostly known as an accomplished pilot, but he is currently in production on a TV show that features him playing a fictionalized version of himself on a quest to land a high profile role as an action hero. The show is called Die Hart and it also features comedian/actor, Kevin Hart...
Travolta has been married to actress Kelly Preston since the early 1990s. Despite the Hollywood couple curse, and the untimely death of their 16-year-old son Jett Travolta in 2009, the couple are still together and John Travolta is still a certified, white-hot hunk.
As private detective John Shaft in the original Shaft films, Richard Roundtree's sex appeal was quite evident to African American audiences. His sexy demeanor managed to cross racial lines as well.
Roundtree has kept his acting chops alive and well by appearing in popular current TV series, such as Being Mary Jane, opposite Gabrielle Union. Most recently, he can be seen opposite Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Loretta Divine in the Netflix series Family Reunion.
After two failed marriages and five children, Roundtree is currently single, but even at 77 years of age, Richard Roundree is still as sexy as he can be...
As private investigator Tom Magnum from the TV series,Magnum PI, Tom Selleck used to parade around in tiny little shorts and tight jeans. With his cut physique, just about every girl in America swooned at the very thought of him.
Selleck has stayed relevant by appearing in popular TV shows, such as a long stint on Friends as Monica Geller's (Courtney Cox) older, but hot boyfriend. He has also maintained roles on The Closer and Boston Legal. Most recently, you can catch Selleck headlining his own, popular TV series, Blue Bloods. Selleck barely made the cut on this list because Magnum PI premiered in 1980, but by the time he won that role, he was already a bona-fide Hollywood hunk.
Selleck married actress Jillie Mack in 1987. He has an adopted son from a prior marriage, and he and Mack also have a daughter. He and Jillie are still together and as you can see from the image above, as well as catching a glance at him on his current TV show, Tom Selleck is still on fire...
