Which Celebrity Couples Met on Set?

From simple flings to falling in love, newlyweds to long-time partners, Hollywood sets seem to be the ultimate breeding ground for celebrity relationships. While some couples on this list fizzled out, many continue going strong and prove that love truly can withstand the pressures of Tinsel Town. Here are 18 celebrity couples that famously fell in love on the set of films and TV shows.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

The Film: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)

It is impossible to begin a list of on-set celebrity couplings without mentioning the biggest meeting of all: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The infamous "Brangelina" met while filming the action flick Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004, and as everyone on planet Earth knows, the two fell in love. Only problem? Pitt was still married to fellow Hollywood heavy-hitter Jennifer Aniston. The chaos that ensued in the following months (and years) was well-documented by the media; Brad and Jen finalized their divorce in 2005, and he would go on to adopt Angelina's children. Together the couple would share 6 children, marry in 2014, and ultimately separate in 2016.

Stephen Moyer & Anna Paquin

The Show: True Blood (2008-2014)

These two fang-tastic loverbirds met on the set of the hit HBO vampire show, True Blood during a screen test. It didn't take long for sparks to start flying between Paquin and Moyer, as the pair began dating shortly after. In an interview with People, Moyer confessed when he knew she was the one. "By day three or four--oh, this is going to sound so syrupy--but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. It was within seconds, really, and it just became a thing." Anna and Stephen married in 2010, and she gave birth to twins Charlie and Poppy in 2012.

Freddie Prinze Jr. & Sarah Michelle Gellar

The Film: I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

The beloved Hollywood duo was the ultimate '90s couple that first met on the set of the iconic slasher film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. The two would not begin dating until 2000 and were married in 2002. Together, they have two children: daughter Charlotte Grace and son Rocky James. Prinze and Gellar have worked alongside each other on-screen several times; they played each other's love interests as Fred and Daphne in Scooby-Doo & Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, and offered their voices in the films Happily N'Ever After & Star Wars Rebels. The couple recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary!

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart

The Film: Twilight (2008)

Who could possibly forget every teen's ultimate favorite couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson? The sparkly vampires met while filming Twilight in 2008, and for a long time, the two decided not to talk about their private life with the media. They remained secretive about their relationship until 2012 when paparazzi photos showed photos of Stewart with director Rupert Sanders (who was married at the time). The couple reconciled in October 2012 but called it quits for good in 2013. Though their love story ended, Bella and Edward will live on for eternity.

Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton

The Film: Cleopatra (1963)

Arguably one of the most famous costar romances of all time, began when Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton played historical lovers Cleopatra and Mark Antony in the mega-budget film, Cleopatra. During filming, the two began an affair. At the time, Taylor was married to Eddie Fisher and Burton was married to Sybil Williams. The actors would separate from their partners and marry in 1964; divorcing in 1974. During this time they would star in a number of films together and would reconcile once more and marry in 1975, before divorcing the following year. Their relationship remains one of the most infamous in Hollywood.

The pair maintained that they were just friends while shooting the film, but sparks must have flown since they began dating in late 2011 after Reynolds' divorce was finalized. The two A-Listers were married in 2012, and together share two daughters, James and Inez. The pair seem to be enjoying wedded bliss, often playfully teasing one another on social media and giving fans a good laugh.

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan

The Film: Step Up (2006)

The ultimate king and queen of dancing met in 2006 while filming Step Up, and ended up dancing their way down the aisle three years later in 2009. It didn't take long before Tatum and Dewan became a beloved Hollywood "It" couple. They welcomed a daughter, Everly, in 2013. In April of 2018, after nearly nine years of marriage, the couple released a joint statement on social media, announcing they were separating.

Liam Hemsworth & Miley Cyrus

The Film: The Last Song (2010)

In 2009, while shooting the Nicholas Sparks film The Last Song, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth began a romance. After a three-year on-again, off-again relationship, the couple announced their engagement in 2012. However, they separated in 2013 and Hemsworth would say he and Cyrus would "always be best friends" and that they had "an instantaneous and powerful connection." Rumors began swirling in January 2016 that the two had reconciled, and Cyrus confirmed to Ellen DeGeneres on her show that they were once again engaged. The two were married in a private, at-home ceremony in December 2018.

Ian Somerhalder & Nina Dobrev

The Show: The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)

The coupling of two of television's hottest actors had fans rejoicing when The Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev went public with their relationship. Rumors of a real-life romance between the two started in 2010, but they didn't confirm it until 2011. The pair would split in 2013. Somerhalder must have a thing for vampires, as he married Twilight actress Nikki Reed in 2015, with whom he shares a daughter.

Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck

The Film: Daredevil (2003)

Bennifer 2.0 met while filming 2003's Daredevil, but didn't begin dating until 2004, after the split of Bennifer 1 (Ben Affleck famously dated Jennifer Lopez). They were married in a private ceremony that was officiated by Garner's Alias co-star, Victor Garber. Together the A-Listers would have three children together: two daughters and one son. After rumors of an alleged affair began surfacing, the couple announced their separation in 2015, and the divorce was finalized in 2018.

Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith

The Show: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996; Met in 1994)

One of Hollywood's most beloved and rock-solid couples, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been going strong since 1997. The pair first met on the set of Smith's show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1994, when Pinkett was auditioning for his love interest. She was considered too short, and the role ultimately went to Nia Long. Though she didn't nab the part, she won something even better; Smith and Pinkett became friends and began dating in 1995. They wed on New Year's Eve in 1997, and have two children together: son Jaden and daughter Willow.

Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling

The Film: The Notebook (2004)

Who could possibly forget that incredibly passionate kiss in the rain from The Notebook? Leads Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling first met on the set of the Nicholas Sparks-inspired film, and it wasn't love at first sight. The two reportedly had a lot of on-set tension, and Gosling even allegedly tried to have McAdams let go from the project. However, those strong feelings must have turned into something romantic, as they began dating in 2005. They dated until 2007, and briefly reunited in 2008 before permanently calling it quits.

Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell

The Film: Swing Shift (1984)

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are one of Hollywood's longest-lasting couples, having been together for more than 30 years. That feat is impressive given the expiration dates on many Hollywood hook-ups. The actors had appeared together on-screen in 1968's The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band before playing love interests in 1984's Swing Shift when they ultimately fell in love. They've been going strong ever since, and together share a son Wyatt, as well as Hawn's actor children Kate and Oliver Huson (from her marriage to Bill Hudson).

Lauren Bacall & Humphrey Bogart

The Film: To Have and Have Not (1944)

One of classic Hollywood's most beloved couples was familiar with one another's work, but it wasn't until filming the romance adventure film To Have and Have Not that they fell in love. Initially, Bacall wasn't too interested in the leading man, but when she showed up to set nervous and shaky, the experienced Bogart told silly jokes to relax her. The budding romance soon turned serious, as the two were married in 1945. In one of the many love letters Bogart wrote, he declared to Bacall, "I never believed that I could love anyone are my last love and all the rest of my life I shall love you and watch you and be ready to help you." The legendary actor sadly passed away in 1957 from esophageal cancer, widowing Bacall.

Johnny Depp & Winona Ryder

The Film: Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder were arguably one of the biggest "It" couples of the early '90s, after having gotten together after filming Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. Not only did the two beautiful actors find love, but it began Depp's long-standing working relationship with the director. The couple got engaged five months after their first date, and Depp famously got the tattoo "Winona Forever." Alas, in June 1993 the pair announced their separation and the actor had his tattoo altered to read "Wino Forever."
