10 Vegan Celebrities

Updated on June 22, 2017

Ariana Grande

The popular pop star Ariana Grande decided to fully commit to a vegan lifestyle in November of 2013. Grande stated in an interview with Mirror in 2014 that she made her choice not only because of her strong love of animals but also for the health benefits of a plant-based diet. The star has said that she was never a big meat eater so making the transition was easy for her.

Her love of animals also extends to her going on Twitter to tell her fans to boycott Seaworld. This was a result of having seen the documentary Blackfish, which examines the abuse whales face at theme parks.

Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone promotes her vegan lifestyle like no other celebrity. She decided to change her diet back in 1998. The actress has teamed up with PETA for their ad campaigns. She was even voted as Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2004. Silverstone and her family reside in an eco-friendly home in LA.

She has published a book called The Kind Diet in 2009. It is all about vegan nutrition. She is also known for feeding her children chewed food because it is supposedly healthier. There is a video of her doing this that was posted back in 2012.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus might just be one of the biggest activists out there right now. One of the things she fights for is animal rights. Cyrus went vegan in 2014 after the death of her dog. In 2012, the star found out she was lactose intolerant. This made her stop eating dairy before she even thought about a lifestyle change. If you ever scroll down her Instagram, there is no secret that she is all about that vegan life.

Liam Hemsworth

Everyone is aware of his girlfriend Miley Cyrus being a vegan, but did you know that Liam Hemsworth also lives the lifestyle? Hemsworth decided to change his diet when he was inspired by his co-star Woody Harrelson on the set of Hunger Games. He has stated that he has felt healthier than ever on his new diet. The research he did on the cruelty animals face in factory farms also had an impact on making him stop eating meat. The star was named Sexiest Vegan in 2016 by PETA.

Waka Flocka Flame

I bet you were not aware that Waka Flocka Flame was a vegan! The rapper decided to cut out meat because he simply did not want to get fat. He does take his lifestyle seriously though. He stated that his friends do make fun of him for not eating meat. It doesn't bother him because he has more energy. He was also named Hottest Vegetarian of 2016 by PETA.

He has a video where he teaches how to make vegan blueberry muffins. Doesn't that sound delicious? I mean who doesn't want to watch Waka Flocka show you how to make muffins?

Brad Pitt

Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt is one of the celebrities that have joined in on the vegan lifestyle. You will never see this actor eating meat, that's for sure. Pitt is known for being a huge animal rights and environmental activist. He used to speak out on how he felt annoyed when seeing his now ex-wife Angelia Jolie or his children eating meat products. He strongly believes veganism is the right way to a healthier life.

Alec Baldwin

It makes me so happy to be able to include one of my favorite actors on this list. Baldwin gave up beef when he was a kid. He grew up raising cows and his neighbor owned pigs. He thought that animals were so cute that he couldn't understand how anyone could actually eat them. He eventually became a full vegetarian in 2011 when he found out he was prediabetic. Baldwin had to make a lifestyle change for his health.

The actor also served as the narrator for PETA's video called Meet Your Meat. The video showed what was done to animals at factory farms.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman became a vegan back in 2009 after years of being a vegetarian. She made the decision after reading Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer. The star even wrote her own article in The Huffington Post about the abuse of animals in factory farms and how it effects the environment. Portman served only vegan dishes at her wedding in 2012.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres and her vegan lifestyle is well known. The comedian stopped eating meat in 2008 after being inspired by reading many books and researching about animal rights. He decision was based on her love for animals. Like Portman, only vegan dishes were served at her wedding. In 2009, PETA gave DeGeneres their Woman of the Year award.

DeGeneres has attracted some controversy due to her endorsement with CoverGirl; the company tests on animals. She also has a line of leather shoes.

Kristen Bell

Another one of my favorites on this list is Kristen Bell. She is a huge animal rights activist and spends a lot of time promoting that with her husband Dax Shepard. After being a long time vegetarian, she went full vegan in 2012. She was inspired after watching a documentary that highlighted the benefits of a plant-based diet and the risks of eating meat products. Bell has also won the award of Sexiest Vegetarian of 2013 from PETA.
