Dragon Ball

10. Dragon Ball

The Story: Son Goku is a young boy who possesses great martial arts skills and overwhelming potential. Coincidentally, he also has in his possession an object known as a Dragon Ball. Rumors say that if one collects and puts together the seven Dragon Balls, a wish of any form can be granted. And so, by bumping into a quirky girl named Bulma and learning about the Dragon Balls, Goku goes on an adventure that will ultimately transcend the world’s boundaries.

The Verdict: Dragon Ball might just be one of the pioneers of the shounen genre in anime. It’s already a classic and it did boost the popularity of the genre. And so, it’s a no-brainer that this classic be put here on this list. It is famous, explosive, and one of the most famous franchises around the world. There is also the fact that this is a very action-packed show that is full of adventure.

This franchise has a few series in it. There is Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super. The original series is focused more on fantasy and adventure while later entries put more emphasis on action and sci-fi. Any series is worth watching.

One Punch Man

One Punch Man

9. One Punch Man

The Story: A hero for fun—this is what Saitama considers himself to be. After three years of non-stop training by doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-km run every single day, he’s now capable of dealing with any villain that comes his way with a single punch! But there’s one problem though—he’s not an official hero licensed by the Hero Association! Discovering that fact with his new partner, Genos, Saitama enlists to become a legitimate hero once and for all! All while beating up baddies and dealing with the silly problems concerning his quirkiness and bald head.

The Verdict: This is one of the more recent hits. Not only does One Punch Man showcase its shounen-ish aspects in full throttle, it also goes all-out with the heroic antics. It’s fun to watch, hilarious, thrilling, meaningful, and overloaded with action. And that is why it has become one of the most anticipated shounen anime.

Boku no Hero Academia

Boku no Hero Academia

8. Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)

The Story: Young Midoriya Izuku had always dreamt of being a hero ever since he was a kid. As a matter of fact, the number one idol that he looks up to is none other than the number one hero of the world—All Might! But no matter how hard he tries, he is troubled by the fact that he is quirkless (one who doesn’t possess any kind of superpower). That is until one day, fate sets up a destined meeting between him and All Might. Midoriya Izuku inherits All Might’s power, One For All, after gaining his respect and approval. And thus, the incredible hero story that literally begins from zero begins!

The Verdict: Another hero anime jumps into the shounen genre bandwagon! This time, it’s a show about a hero who’s literally trying to tread the zero-to-hero path! Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome—Boku no Hero Academia! I assure you, the potential carried by this budding anime show is phenomenal! As to why, it's because this show has the power to motivate you with its emotional story, encourage you with the high-end action and heroic antics, and empower you with its heroic morals and excellent overall narration.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

7. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

The Story: Originating from an ethereal palace not known to most, Aladdin takes his first step into the world. Along with a magical flute that contains a djinn named Ugo, Aladdin travels around the world to witness everything in it. One day, he meets Alibaba Saluja, a young man who wants to enter one of the mysterious labyrinths called Dungeons in order to prove his worth. And so, Aladdin joins him in his endeavor. Unbeknownst to both of them, this ordeal shall be the genesis of it all—an adventure that not only concerns both of them but the fate of the whole world!

The Verdict: If there’s one word that could describe Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, it would be—magical! From the very beginning, this show just engulfs everything with magic. It may seem like just another shounen anime, but this isn’t actually the case. Deep within, Magi is a treasure box (or even a treasure chamber) just waiting to enthrall anyone who’s courageous enough to venture into it. You do not believe me? Well, just say "Open Sesame" and see the magic yourself.

If you enjoy Magi, here is a list of similar anime that you could add to your watch list.

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail

6. Fairy Tail

The Story: 17-year-old celestial wizard, Lucy Heartfilia, is looking for a certain guild to join. That guild is the infamous wizard guild that always causes ruckus and mayhem—Fairy Tail! As part of the wizard guild, Lucy takes missions in order to make a living and grow as a celestial mage. Oftentimes, along with Natsu Dragneel, a dragon slayer, and Happy, a flying cat, they go on adventures to prove their worth as wizards. They are joined by Gray and Erza as time goes by, and the whole guild backs them up whenever something happens. Ultimately, they’re wizards whose purpose is to grow in magic, beat adversaries, and show the world what it means to be a Fairy Tail wizard!

The Verdict: A magic bomb that spectacularly explodes to immerse everyone into every spell it has to offer—that’s Fairy Tail in a nutshell! Being a shounen anime with heavy elements of fantasy, adventure, magic, and comedy, Fairy Tail is pretty impressive! It does not only fascinate with adventure and fantasy but also captivates with comedy and a bit of drama. When watching this show, it’s guaranteed that you’ll be laughing every now and then, enticed by the spell-tastic action, and deeply submerged into the story.

Right now, they are known as the greatest criminals of the kingdom and gravely sought for their evil deeds. What will become of the once peaceful kingdom? The only hope now lies in the hands of the Seven Deadly Sins, the infamous criminal group that was believed to have once betrayed the kingdom.

The Verdict: Boom! Blaam! Kapoow! There’s high-end combat, ridiculous magic, overpowered characters, hilarious moments, twisted wonders…what more can I add? In short, what I’m trying to say is that Nanatsu no Taizai has a lot of elements one would expect from a really great shounen anime. And it’s actually different from the rest! For some reason, it just lures you in deeper and deeper until you become a die-hard fun. Well, that just tells on how really great of a show it is.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The Story: The Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, have committed the greatest taboo—bringing the dead back to life! Years later, the Elric brothers are now on the search for the Philosopher’s Stone—an all-powerful stone that is said to be capable of performing miracles. Will the Elric brothers be able to redeem themselves? Is the Philosopher’s Stone the answer or is it something that will lead to another taboo? Follow the Elric brothers as they travel in search for truth and redemption.

The Verdict: There’s a reason why Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is considered one of the best anime ever. Its execution is very well done. Its impact is enormous. With alchemy as its base, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood transmutes every minute detail into a gripping experience.

If you need some convincing, check out this insightful review on the series.

3. Naruto

The Story: Naruto Uzumaki grew up with the abominable nine-tailed demon fox sealed inside him. As a result of this, Naruto was alienated and discriminated by the people of his village. And so, a spark ignited inside him. He aims to become the Hokage (the highest leader and ninja of the village)! But in order to do so, he first has to master the basics of ninjutsu, pass through death-defying obstacles, and ultimately live by his own ninja way.

The Verdict: Naruto—it’s the ninja anime with a legion of fans! Why? Because it’s about ninjas and stuff like that! Well, it’s one that really shines as a mainstream shounen anime despite the fact that it has a lot of filler episodes. Just ignore those for now because Naruto has one of the best narratives out there. It’s so great that it can may be considered a legendary ninja epic!

At the expense of causing a war between fans, you should read this article on why Naruto may be better than Dragon Ball Z.

One Piece

One Piece

2. One Piece

The Story: Monkey D. Luffy’s dream is to become the King of Pirates! In order to do so, he has to reach the Grand Line and claim the ultimate treasure, One Piece. But before everything else, he has to build his own pirate crew. And so, the Straw Hat Pirate Crew is born! With big waves, vicious monsters, deadly pirates, and powerful marines serving as obstacles in their path, Monkey D. Luffy along with the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates will stop at nothing in order to reach their goals and always be merry.

The Verdict: With an adventure as vast and grand as the ocean, and hundreds of episodes and counting to boot, One Piece has gotten everyone hooked! It’s an adventure like no other! Who would have thought that pirates could be this cool?! Well, with adventure present all throughout, comic relief lunging at viewers, and occasional emotional moments touching the hearts of audiences—One Piece is a shounen anime that is definitely a must-watch! I recommend starting as soon as now because it literally has hundreds of episodes.

New friends, new trials, new experiences—Gon will take everything out of the one-of-a-kind hunter experience!

The Verdict: Finally, we come upon the shounen anime that’s on top of them all. With a marvelous story, spectacular development, excellent execution, high-end thrilling action, amazing characterization, and an emotionally gripping substance—Hunter X Hunter is the number one shounen anime! I couldn’t possibly describe it with mere words so just watch it as soon as humanly possible!

If you enjoy this series, you got to check out this list of similar anime for more recommendations.

As the shounen genre follows a fairly traditional narrative structure, there is a foundation for the character traits of a traditional shounen protagonist. They typically have big hearts and lots of energy, though they may not be the most intellectually gifted. Despite this, they are often quite pragmatic in combat. Along with physical strength, they often posses of strong sense of morals and justice.

Some notable shounen protagonists include:

  • Goku-The main character of Dragon Ball is arguably the mold that future shounen heroes are made after. While not the brightest, his kindness and dedication to his friends have made him endearing. His spiky hairstyle has also been emulated by later characters.
  • Naruto Uzumaki-The titular hero is arguably the successor to Goku. He even wears an orange gi! He is very energetic, although he is not quite the smartest of the ninjas. However, he is determined to be a hero and is loyal to his friends. The series does highlight his growth and he becomes more mature and powerful by the end.
  • Luffy-The main character of One Piece is one of the most prominent shounen heroes of the 2000s along with Naruto. His hot-blooded personality may be a flaw, but his crew is willing to put up with it because of his prowess in combat. He can be very inventive when the need calls and can be relied on when the situation is dire.
  • Ichigo Kurosaki-The hero of Bleach follows the tradition of having spiky hair. He is hot-blooded in battle but is actually shown to have good grades in school, subverting the trope of the dumb hero. Protecting his family, friends, and community is his primary motivation.
  • Izuko Midoriya-The protagonist of My Hero Academia is a recent entry in the pantheon of shounen heroes. He has a strong sense of justice as he strives to be the best hero he can be. He also surrounds himself with group of comrades that motivate him. He is shown to be rather intelligent as he analyzes his opponents in combat.

Naruto being that high? Its good but still.

Where is Bleach? And you call this a Shonen list.

Magi is here? Hell naw

Where the hell is Gintama? It should be in Top 3.

One Punch Man is here? Mob Psycho deserves it instead.

Seriously, Dragon Ball?

Where even is Yu Yu Hakasho HUH?

RIZ on June 11, 2020:

My hero academia is gonna get better with more season goes on.Its proabably an anime with goes through teenhood best without any childish antics.

Weebkage on June 07, 2020:

What the hell is this bullshit, One Piece is easily the best anime ever made. It has much better fights, animation, char development and char bonds than any other show. Plus, It's the best selling manga series out there. So HxH fans can shut up

Oof on May 20, 2020:

Wtf what is wrong with you guys, why y’all so toxic?

I watched every anime except magi: the labyrinth of magic on this list and love all of them. Sure I agree with them who say that animes like bleach or whatever should be on this list too but everybody just calm down and just bc ppl like for example Naruto more than HxH you don’t have to say Naruto is trash or bullshit. If you think HxH is more realistic than Naruto or Bleach bc they’re too overpowered and you like it the other way more then that’s ok but y’all should just calm down and relax

(And srry for my bad english but I’m from germany)

jazzmeuxic on April 03, 2020:

theres no contest hunter x hunter easily tops them all its different from your average naruto, bleach, fairy tail and one piece theres something special about hunter x hunter its a realistic kid who isnt a hero but an mc who explore the world full of hurt and to know how weak he is unlike your overpowered bullshit naruto, bleach, fairy and onepiece. H x H is more logical and complicated theres more depth in its writing this anime is intended for mature audience

Liar on March 11, 2020:

HxH is my favorite anime ever. nothing better. i think fullmetal should maybe (maybe) be higher just off of its great storytelling. I loved 1PM, but i feel like Mob Psycho was better storytelling and development wise, and not in power like a typical shonen.

oiles on March 07, 2020:

HunterxHunter is by far the best shounen and the actual best anime in the world rn. Couldn't think of anything better. MHA needs a lot more work to ever be on this list, Naruto and One Piece have great storylines but so much filler, same with DBZ, which is full of feels all the way until Dragon Ball Super. Disappointed. Same with Boruto- they are complete failures. Magi is an amazingly underrated anime. But one that should be around this list would be Assassination Classroom and Haikyuu. They should definitely be on this list. One punch man was nice but its 2 seasons of comic stuff, no real deep plot. Haven't watched Full Metal Alchemist but from what I've seen its quite good too. Nanatsu no Tazai is amazing, just wish they stretched it into more episodes and upped the character development a bit. Fairy Tail is a show you can only enjoy while young. Really young. To be blunt its pure filler and frankly overhyped, repeating and incredibly boring. The fanservice, misunderstandings and comedic acts are quite annoying. Hope you enjoyed my analysis!!

Lol wtf on February 04, 2020:

Naruto voter probably does watch op.. I agree with hxh on 1st

But as a person who watch both naruto and op, op is far better

Ahiru on November 09, 2019:

One Piece isn't the best Shounen Anime - it's the best Anime, no, the best fictional work in general.

DB on July 23, 2019:

Hunter X Hunter dominates

Naruto is a classic

Hero Academia is so good, it needs 10 more seasons to go deeper and deeper though

Dragon Ball isn't deep but it's fun and long.

Tommaso on July 13, 2019:

Nanatsu No Taizai has the ability to completly change the opinion on a character once you discover deeper his past...

Than after a while all become relative , the conception of evil and good fades away and your general vision become wider

I love the relationships between the characters , the love , the suspense, the backstories...

I know that I'm repetitive but I cannot describe this sense of horizon than every once in a while become...bigger....and the morality is not there anymore

I love one piece on June 16, 2019:

A lot of the anime on the list are overrated like bnha, it has great characters but the story is not original, I have watched a lot of shows similar to it, but I still love it so don’t come at me.

Plus people should stop complaining about fairytail it isn’t terrible.

One piece is my fav on June 16, 2019:

this list isn’t that bad compared to other lists, but it could be improved

joeyjoestar on June 06, 2019:

Emma on May 30, 2019:

Ynel on April 17, 2019:

When I saw hxh as your #1 shounen anime, I immediately clicked it. It's true! The characters, the plot, the feels... It has an interesting plot that makes me crave for more. And the ant arc is just... i dunno! I've never felt so excited for an anime battle until this show!

Johnny Puckett on April 08, 2019:

Bleach should really be on here...

Pishcales on April 08, 2019:

Lol, bleach is better than fairytail and tbh fairytail is not that really good, i can compare because i've seen all your "top 10" list except for 7 deadly sins. I'm disappointed that deathnote and code geas didnt made the list. Also ghost fighter and shaman king

Rohan Kishibe on April 07, 2019:

Yaa on January 11, 2019:

Katekyo hitman reborn?

Owen on January 05, 2019:

I can’t tell you how happy I was to see you place HxH as your #1. I haven’t watched many anime, but I do know a quality show when I watch one, and that is the best of the best. It characters are about as solid as you can have them, the arcs are pristine and really never lack, and the plot never falls through. People often tend to say the show is boring from the start, but you can tell they never have seen the show, only the first couple episodes. Here’s the ONLY spots where the series only slightly lacks:

1. The first couple episodes

2. The ending

3. Two or three story elements that kinda got lost

for #1, the first couple episodes did an amazing job in establishing the tone, characters, and plot. However it dragged a bit, which turn people off quick. STICK WITH IT. Just make it to like episode 5 and you’ll be 100% hooked. For 2, it’s a bit anticlimactic, sure, but you learn in the end from Ging (what I consider THE LITERAL MORAL OF THE ENTIRE SERIES) is that a journey is about the adventure within, not the destination. You don’t watch Hunter x Hunter to reach some epic conclusion or fight scene. You get a couple reminiscient shots. The point of the show is to enjoy it for what it is, not the end conclusion itself. I think the show-makers knew what they were doing when they made that ending alongside Ging’s monologue about enjoying the ride, not the destination. So truthfully I don’t see that as much of a problem. Lastly, there’s always going to be a couple loose ends in shows that never get 100% cleaned up, (we see that here with Phantom Troupe, Kite, other Chimera ants, etc) but it didn’t bother me too much. They’re pretty minuscule in the grand scheme of things. Just, whatever you do, watch the damn show. People all the time call this series a masterpiece, and for good reason. It’s truly the peak of storytelling. It’s not just my favorite anime but also my favorite show of all time, and I’ve watched Game of Thrones (which is aLso a masterpiece). So, yeah. Hope you liked my TED talk. This show is amazing. Watch it. See ya. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Objective Guy on November 19, 2018:

Saying that Fairy Tail is better than BNHA, One Punch Man and Dragon Ball is like insulting the shonen genre

wow ,that means JOJO , Case Closed, Death Note , Code Geass,Rurunoni Kenshin are worse than the likes of FT and sins

rajiv on November 10, 2018:

HxH is a very nice piece of art but it is nowhere near to be finished, they have ended it very soon. They haven't even showed the dark continent yet and what about the phantom troupe.

Jayde on October 02, 2018:

Here's a more accurate list -

1. One Piece

2. Dragon Ball

4. Yu Yu Hakuhso

5. HxH

6. Detective Conan

7. Saint Seiya

8. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

9. Rurouni Kenshin

10. Death Note

PS: writing-depth wise, Dragon ball falls short a lil bit, but its sheer creativity at that time and everlasting impact as well as being by far the biggest anime phenomenon as well as having the largest fanbase by a long shot even today pointing to its achievements as an entertainment medium - justifies it's position in my eyes.

Abhishek Verma on October 01, 2018:

1. One Piece

1. HxH

1. AOT

1. Fairy Tail

zingray on September 03, 2018:

Trash list. You left out Jojo? And put Seven Deadly Sins, Naruto, Fairy Tail and MHA above Dragon ball? Terrible.

njose77 on August 31, 2018:

Haha, One punch man isn't even shounen and if it was needs to be higher on the list. I believe that bnha is the most overhyped shows in recent times, but it deserves a higher rank than seven deadly sins, which is a show completely void of any originality.

sda on August 27, 2018:

It's preety good list. top 4 is perfect :) only HxH can beat OP (of course oda still working on it so be patient :) in this entire list i just want to erase Magi and nanatsu for now and add some Bleach and shinsengumi no kyojin

Fairy tail sucks and Naruto is overrated on August 15, 2018:

The moment you I saw Naruto above FMA I knew your list was trash.

Threshold on August 03, 2018:

I do believe that Hunter x Hunter is overrated and overhyped oftentimes, however, compared to the other anime you've listed it easily beats them all.

seven deadly sins and My hero acadamia are my faves

Luke on June 06, 2018:

Seven deadly sins is the best and of course my hero academia

Anon on June 02, 2018:

Just finished HxH and it was very entertaining, but the story is nowhere near finished to be considered the best. Too many plots left dangling including the phantom troupe, kurapika, colt, kite, etc. It's like the author started all these cool stories and just left them to follow Gon, who has very little character development. Every character around him has had significant change, but it doesn't seem like Gon has learned much. Also 25% of the anime was exposition where characters just stood or sat there explaining rules or powers to each other or us. Skipped through a lot of it.

anime_fan_bee on May 27, 2018:

Interesting list. Although very popular, surprisingly I never liked Fairytale. I also love BLEACH despite of all the the not-so-good filler episodes and my shounen anime list would be incomplete without Bleach. I really hope that someday they would bring back the anime.

I'mrightyou'reallwrong on May 24, 2018:

What the list should be

1. HxH (same)

3. One Piece

2 and 3 are interchangable, I'd say it's a tie or a bit swayed towards FMAB

4. My Hero Academia

5. Naruto (Shippuden)

6. AOT

7. Seven Deadly Sins

8. Dragonball

9. One Punch Man

10. Bleach

Notice I didn't include Fairy Tale or Magi as I seriously despise both of them. Neither are very good imo.

deathlog on May 24, 2018:

This article might as well be titled most overrated anime. I came here looking for something I haven't watched yet, and this list is basically just 10 of the most overhyped anime of all time. don't get me wrong, I enjoy several of these shows, but these are series next to everyone knows, and at the same time series which largely lacks plot points and characters that truly distinguish them from other shounen. heck OPM isn't even a shounen but a gag / action series

the truth on May 06, 2018:

I liked all of these animes but one i just cant stand is Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Idk why i cant i tried watching it more than once its just not my type, to me its relly confusing and it doesnt have a good plot in my opinon. The charecters from wha i seeen barely improve and i dont like the alchemy idea. I think one piece should be number one nd the its your choice. I dont understand why peopel like FMAB so much but hey thats your opinon.

Plopi on April 16, 2018:

Watched them all. One piece 1# no doubt.

Th3One on April 14, 2018:

Everyone here is just shouting out there opinions. Statistically Dragon Ball is the best Shounen out of all. It was made at an early stage and is still running popularly today. Everyone has at least heard of Dragon Ball and know Goku, where as HXH a lot of people haven't even heard about.

Cheeky Kid (author) from Milky Way on March 13, 2018:

@Aidanta1 It's not done yet. Let's hope they create more episodes in the future. For the meantime, you can catch the manga chapters for a continuation of the stories. It's taking forever as well though.

Aidanta1 on March 12, 2018:

Hunter x hunter is a good show but I didn't like the end it seemed rushed. The phantom troupe wasn't defeated, it didn't explain why kite was a girl, leorio finally got strong, but he didn't participate in any fights, and the most important part Gon spent the whole show looking for clues to find Gin, but then it's just like, hey, is that my dad over there.

Corvus on February 18, 2018:

I disagree with the positions of just about all of them except for Hunter x Hunter.

That anime is easily the best Shounen of all time.

Probably the best anime too.

Will on February 12, 2018:

No, I'm not entranced by the most predictable story ever A.K.A. Fairy Tail. Also, putting My Hero below fairy tail is just a crime.

Jsjfnrueoemfmfj on February 10, 2018:

Hunter x hunter is super befitting of the top position! And i can understand the feeling of not being able to express how amazing it is

Marah on January 21, 2018:

yes, Naruto is one of the best storylines ever , I grew up with Naruto since I was a kid 'till now "graduated from college" I'm in love with every scene of Naruto ^^

but what about Bleach ??? this anime is one of the best! it's one of the 3 legendary anime shounen : Naruto, Bleach, One piece

Rocker on January 17, 2018:

Samurai x is the best shonen anime I ever seen

Majster on December 31, 2017:

Fullmetal alchemist isn't shounen, because

they have one goal to regain the alphons body.

There are no side threads there.

Shonen is about discovering the adventures of a person, guilds.

The adventure in Shonen is divided into sagas.

NANI on December 23, 2017:

tbh i feel that fullmetal alchemist : brotherhood should be in the top 3 as its a really good anime. and opm and bnha should be ranked higher!

wut?! on December 02, 2017:

Naruto should be higher( he have actually the best storyline ever) up and where is BLEACH

Dani rosey on November 29, 2017:

cheeky kid,

Even though i haven't seen FT but this list is ON point. I even signed up to this website just for this comment. HXH is a masterpiece and every time i see it number 1 makes me so happy. thanks

Kold_Blooded_Killer on November 24, 2017:

Nah mate, FT is trash, add Gintama to the list, place Naruto a lot lower than it is, FMAB and Gintama are far better than Naruto.

Shounen Boi on November 23, 2017:

What about Noragami bruh

Or what, 2 MLG 4 U M8

HeavenlyDemon97 on November 23, 2017:

I agree with your list only because all other such lists on the internet forget to mention even an ounce of One piece.Although Aot should replace magi off the list.I think danmachi also deserves to replace brotherhood cuz however much I tried I could not force myself to like that trash .

Cheeky Kid (author) from Milky Way on November 21, 2017:

@Ikkju That's not how it is. Shounen is a genre catered specially to young boys. Everyone is free to watch them though.

lkkju on November 20, 2017:

Shounon: the hero is supposed to grow, evolve his powers, u can't put one punch man and fullmetal alchemist in shonen

_Certified_Retard_ on November 18, 2017:

Okay, I have a few questions about this list.

1. Why isn't OPM and BNHA ranked higher?

2. Why is Fairytail is ranked higher than it should have been?

3. Where the hell is AOT? (as well as Gintama..)

Hamza on October 19, 2017:

One Punch Man isn't shounen tho...

lambie on October 18, 2017:

WTF on October 11, 2017:

1. AOT aint a shounen

2. Naruto is the best

3. Where is Bleach

Meelopez on October 07, 2017:

Yeahhh.. HXH is one of the best but FMA is my fav.

Plusarma on September 22, 2017:

I agree with this tbh ONE HUNDRED PERCENT

lollllll on September 22, 2017:

This dude gotta watch ATTACK ON TITAN

Oblivion on August 30, 2017:

Wheres Attack on Titan? why is fairy tail number, who cares cause its bad, where is Gintama??? Seven deadly sins? really... that anime was trash filled with basic ass characters and terrible development. OPM and BNHA deserve higher rankings!!

Chaos on August 29, 2017:

What about Attack on Titan? And I believe Boku no hero academia should be raised.

Itamar on August 18, 2017:

Which plot holes does Hunter x Hunter have? -.-

LeCorbeauEtLeRenard on August 08, 2017:

HxH number 1 tf ? How? This anime has a lot of plot holes. I stop watching it after the chimera ant arc.

berrgy on August 04, 2017:

Hunter X Hunter is an extremely good show.

Singedai on July 26, 2017:

Fairy Tail better then Magi and Dragon ball? Nah.... FT has a horrible story/character development, and the fights always have to do with "power of friendship" bs. The author, numerous times, has created plot holes that defy the logic of the show. And the final villains (Zeref and Acnologia), got beat by 1 hit. It is one of the most overrated anime of all time. Magi and Dragon ball, and ALOT of other animes actually have reasoning behind their fights, and the villains actually get proper development and deaths. Whereas in fairy tail, every villain loses to the power of friendship and turns into a good guy. It's pathetic, shouldn't even be on a top 15 list.

xbvc on July 23, 2017:

like how did eichiro oda manage to make one piece within 7++ episodes but still very, very little of filler. thats how you define one piece, GOLD.

hecz on July 23, 2017:

@Ana what do you mean predictable? the character development in hxh is one of the best I've ever seen, the roles in their friendship are completely swapped towards the end of the anime. Hell, even the villians (especially Meruem) get some remarkable character development.

god himself on July 17, 2017:

fma is best

Ana on July 13, 2017:

I agree with the list but can't really say that HxH should be no.1. I mean the main characters are very predictable and sometimes a little cliché. Character development is very little where in animes like Naruto & One Piece, you'll get to see remarkable character development and bonding. HxH does have awesome fight scenes though.

MM on July 12, 2017:

have seen lots of anime, but HxH is still my favorite: great character development, diverse story arcs, almost no fillers ...

anon on July 10, 2017:

i mean, the ones that boop mentioned

anon on July 10, 2017:

oh boi.... those are not shounens....

boop on July 04, 2017:

what about attack on titan, tokyo ghoul and death note. imo these are some of the best.

Yiyo on July 02, 2017:

An older entry but one of the best shonen is

Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple

It typifies the charming story of a happy go lucky character seeking to better themselves through hardship and improve as a person.

RSTSpoonz on June 30, 2017:

Anonymous, you clearly haven't seen enough of HxH, really? One episode and you assume that it's boring... I'm caught up with One Piece (Manga) finished FMAB, watched 40 episodes of Reborn and found it boring as hell, literally no on cared about the first 40 episodes until Tsuna got his gloves. And I can confidently say that HxH is better than Reborn, not as good as One Piece but on par with FMAB, if you like FMA you really should watch it, give it like 30 episodes then say its boring, it's really a waste if you don't watch it, trust me.

Artemis on June 19, 2017:

You forgot deathnote
