About One Piece

One Piece is an epic adventure of the sea! Pirates are present and who would have guessed that they could be this cool and crazy? Yeah, everyone knows they’re crazy but, they’re actually all about thrill as well. One such example is Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirate Crew. Yes, it’s the wackiest and liveliest pirate crew of all. It is one that is headed by the ambitious pirate-king wannabee, Luffy! His goal is—cross the Grand Line, find the One Piece, be the Pirate King, and have a one-of-a-kind sea-faring adventure!

And this is why this list is here! Many have come to love this anime show, and I’m pretty sure you do too. And so, just proceed and take a look at all the Anime like One Piece! Jumping from one to another, I’m sure you’ll find what you want to watch next with the similar vibe, theme, and ambiance.

1. Naruto

Pirates are IN but so are ninjas! And Naruto is here to prove that! “Believe it!,” just as Naruto would say. So again, believe it! Ninjas are cool!

Years ago in the hidden village of leaf, a demon fox went astray to the point of bringing chaos and destruction upon the village. Fortunately, the ninjas especially the Hokage fought to protect the village. In the end, the demon fox soul was sealed inside a very young boy. That boy is—Naruto!

A few years pass and the boy is ready to become a ninja. He’s as mischievous as a fox but he’s also alienated because of the demon fox sealed within him. And so, he makes a vow to become a great ninja and become a Hokage who lead the village to a grand yet peaceful future.

2. Bleach

Our next adventure won’t be at the vast ocean for now. That’s because we’re taking a trip to the other-world, Soul Society to be exact! It’s all because of Bleach so buckle-up and prepare to meet some souls, hollows, and grim reapers!

For Ichigo Kurosaki, it’s really inconvenient to be able to see ghosts and spirits. He had this gift of “sight” ever since he could remember. Until one day, a fateful encounter with a “Shinigami” transitions his own ability into something greater. Ichigo has turned into a Shinigami himself!

Though temporary, Ichigo now has to battle-it-out with evil hollows plague-ing his town. What he doesn’t know is—it’s all not that simple! From one hollow to the next, things just get more intricate and complicated than ever before.

3. Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail

Magic is strength, and so is the power of friendship and camaraderie. As for Fairy Tail, it’s so similar to One Piece with regards to the concept of power bred from friendship and camaraderie. It’s all NAKAMA power for both anime!

Lucy is on a journey as a celestial wizard. Wizard guild exists are hip, and the one she wants to join in is the craziest most notorious guild there is—Fairy Tail!

It’s a good thing Lucy met Natsu and Happy. Because from that fateful meeting, a world of adventure full of magic and wackiness begins and starts to blossom into an unforgettable spell-tastic escapade!

4. Gintama

Gintama | Source

If One Piece managed to give you tummy aches from all the outbursts of laughter, then so will Gintama! Actually, if having good laughs and hysterical vibes is all you want, then I suggest you watch Gintama now.

It’s a world branching into multiverses! At first, aliens caused the banning of swords in feudal Japan. Then, a certain man named Gintoki refused the sword ban! Gintoki has the unwavering heart of a samaruai, but that’s not all—he and his friends are everything!

From one universe to another, in the same world—this Gintama show seems to jump crazily from one thing to another! There are aliens, gangs, samurais, ninjas, pirates, all sorts of parodies, jokes, gags, and more!

5. Hunter x Hunter

Who said hunters ain’t cool? No one, right? As a matter of fact, hunters are regarded as the world-class VIPs of the whole Hunter x Hunter universe! Now move aside pirates, the hunters are marching in!

Ever since his hunter father left him in the care of his aunt, Gon has always wondered of the thrills of becoming a hunter. After all, it’s the very reason why his father left him in his aunt’s care. And so, on the same year he manages to hunt the god of the lake, he sets out to be a prominent hunter himself. His main goal: to hunt his dad!

But before anything else, Gon must pass—the exclusive and ultra-difficult hunter licensure examination!

6. One Punch Man

One Punch Man

Oh, if you didn’t notice, One Piece and One Punch Man starts with the word “One.” If that didn’t convince you that this and that are of kindred spirits, then I don’t know what else will. Well, just see for yourself!

Saitama is the caped baldy. Also, he is the One Punch Man! With just a punch, he can take down any foe or villain with ease. All it takes is ONE PUNCH! And that’s why he’s strong, the strongest actually.

Saitama is a hero for fun…and a bit of profit. But the real question is, is he a hero for everyone else? Not that it matters because the dude is legit and his ONE PUNCH antics are more than what it takes to be a real-deal of a superhero.

7. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann | Source

If One Piece is taking quite a long time (countless of episodes) to reach the legendary treasure at the end of the journey, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann has done it in just 20-something episodes. Yes, from zero to universe-conqueror, Gurren Lagann is that EPIC!

Humanity has been living underground for a very long time. As a result, the surface is but a myth and the sky is just a legendary rumor. In actuality, the surface is now governed by beastmen. But deep below, two young men are about to drill a hole towards freedom and epicness!

Simon and Kamina are both passionate guys. They have big dreams and the future ahead is full of surprise. That’s why it all starts with an idea, a burning passion, a drill key, and a weapon of unimaginable power. Set out, break free, and pierce the heavens!

8. Toriko

Toriko | Source

What’s not to love about food? It’s delectable and delicious! Even most main characters in anime love to eat! See where I’m going? Point is, this show called “Toriko” is about food and epic adventures!

Food is important, food is a commodity! For the world of Toriko, food is everything! It is essentially, power! This is the reason why Toriko is hunting for food! For dishes and for all sorts of exotic cuisine, Toriko will stop at nothing just to obtain the rarest ingredients he needs.

In this kind of world, it’s not money that makes it go round—it’s FOOD!

9. Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)

Seems like many characters in One Piece are getting stronger and stronger as the episodes go on and drag out. Well, I’m happy to say that it’s the same great experience with Nanatsu no Taizai, and perhaps even more. The adventure is cool and the characters all start out overpowered! You’ll surely enjoy this show, I’m sure of it!

The continent of Britannia is in chaos and only the most unexpected group is capable of saving it. Well, if it weren’t for the supposedly good “Holy Knights” causing a ruckus, the infamous criminal group won’t be needing to show up. But, here they are now, the deadly criminal group marching to save the day. They are—the Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)!

The whole continent is about to shake as the battle of intensity draws out an epic sight. Demons, Humans, Fairies, and more—everyone’s invited in this momentous battle royale with a touch of fun on the side.

10. Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball | Source

As you may have noticed, One Piece does look like it’s treading the same path as Dragon Ball. Well, it’s not that exact but close enough! Power is born from a small step until it becomes a universal power. Nonetheless laughs and epic battles are clearly the shared staples for both.

This is the story of Son Goku. From birth to manhood, he’s a lover of fights, especially martial arts. No bad guy can get away unscathed. As a matter of fact, all villains beware! Especially if it’s one who’s trying to destroy the world, that certain someone better hide now! Goku is coming to Kamehameha anyone who tries to do villainous acts.

From human to superhuman, to saiyan, and to super saiyan—Goku and the rest of the Z Warriors are coming to save day once again! All of which is accompanied by smiles on their faces.

All of them are awesome and offers something special and different. Only imbeciles compares them and give verdicts based on ludicrous arguments. Watch them all! Worth it!

I've seen all of these anime, but one, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I've never gave this anime a chance and I plan not to ever. I don't know why, but I guess I'll rewatch Bleach for now. Cheeky Kid, thank you for helping me find Magi, HXH and Magi are easily my top two favorite anime. If any of you haven't watched Magi, I highly recommend you do.
