The Dance Party Continues

Pinkie Pie pointed out that we couldn’t stop at just spinning ten tracks and I had to agree. Mostly because she was bouncing off the walls of my office at warp speed. But she is right and while I loved the first ten songs dearly, I also love a lot of other pony songs as well. Again, it was still hard to pick just ten as there are so many good songs in many episodes.

As always, all writing and photography (screen shots) are my original work. But My Little Pony anything belongs to Hasbro. No copyright infringement is intended and all photos and videos are posted for entertainment purposes only.

Apples To the Core

The Apple family is greeting a new member, Pinkie Pie! Well, they think she is a new member, but to make sure it is going to take a family road trip complete with a rousing musical number to get them there. I love the country feel to this song and how happy all the family members are to somehow dance and sing while traveling down the road.

This catchy tune will have you moving your hooves in no time and wanting to be an Apple family member too.

Art of The Dress

Rarity looks like the fashion pony and designer she is, and as this song shows, the rules of Rarity are not to be messed with. Sure, she could mass produce clothes with no soul, but each garment made stitch by stich will shine as a Rarity original. This song is Rarity at her best, exemplifying generosity in giving her all to her craft.

I like that there are actual fashion details, and that Rarity is thoughtful enough to design her clothes for each pony, not to try and jam everypony into one set style or form. Her friends come in all shapes and sizes after all, and Rarity is set to dress them all.

What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me

What is a cutie mark? It’s part of who a pony is, where his or her special talents lie, and more. But where there is a cutie mark swap thanks to an old spell, the Mane Six are headed for disaster as the gals swap jobs and everything gets mixed up fast.

As the gals try to live up to their new cutie marks, instead of doing what they know they are good at, they sing about a cutie mark being destiny. Is a cutie mark really destiny when a magical mix up is involved? It’s great to see a song, even one about trouble, where the Mane Six are all featured.

And it can reminds viewers of all ages that even when we seem marked for a certain destiny, if we just don't feel it is right for us, there is always room to change and do what we know in our heart of hearts is right.

Raise This Barn

Applejack may have made a right mess of the family reunion, but her final activity to try and create happy memories an family togetherness does lead to one rip-roaring, hoof stomping musical number as the Apple family pitches in to raise a new barn. I love that this song has so many dance elements as well, leading to one of the more exciting songs on the show.

These Earth ponies certainly know how to put on a barn raising, all while dancing and singing to the catchy beat. And by the song’s end they are a family again and Applejack has fixed things up the way only she can.

Find The Music In You

Fluttershy has the courage to sing? Well, not quite! As her name implies, she is one shy Pegasus. To shy in fact to sing with the Poytones hen her friends discover her amazing voice. But when Big Mac looses his singing voice during a turkey call contest Fluttershy can finally sing, but only from behind the curtain. And after a helpful potion to deepen her voice. Will the shy Fluttershy ever learn to step forward or get a bit carried away being a filli vanili?

The Failure Song

Twilight Sparkle has to face her worst nightmare come true, a test she wasn’t prepared for. Will she pass or fail, she isn’t sure, and as she sings we find out that even a pony as smart and confident as Twilight can worry at time. OK, she sings a lot of freak out arias, but this is one of her best.

It also leads later into a cheerful reprise where Twilight and her friends celebrate her success. Since when does Twilight Sparkle ever fail?

Love Is In Bloom

One of the shortest songs in the series, this gem helped cap off a wedding that has seemed at first as if it was never to be, what with the invasion of an army of changelings and the bride being replaced by their queen and all. But Twilight helps the real Princess Cadence escape imprisonment and the Mane Six save the day.

After the wedding Twilight takes the mike and the girls back her up to celebrate the wedding of her older brother and her former foal-sitter Princess Cadence. The night is magical, even if the song is a little on the short side. And it is a great way to end a season, complete with fireworks and a celebration.

The Pony Everypony Should Know

Rarity is usually the pony everypony can count on, but even she can get her priorities mixed up. When she gets to go to Canterlot and stay in the castle thanks to Twilight’s generosity she has the best of intentions to design a dress for her friend in thanks. But soon the dazzle of high society and popularity turn her head and Rarity forgets her promise as she attends one party and event after another.

By the end of the song, thank mostly to an angry Opal, she remembers her promise, but is it far too late?

Cupcakes

One of the shortest songs in the series so far, but one of the most enjoyable. Pinkie Pie gets super excited over baking cupcakes, Well, she gets super excited over almost everything, excited enough to sing a recipe, more or less, to her young assistant. A fun and bouncy song, it’s why the show is so enjoyable as many of the shorter songs can come out of nowhere.

The Goof Off

When a certified party planner, Cheese Sandwich, rolls into town, suddenly Pinkie Pie feels abandoned as her friends seem to no longer need her. Should Pinkie Pie really leave town without a fight? No way! So a goof off is called for to fight to see who get’s to plan Rainbow Dash’s party.

And don’t worry, everything turns out great and Rainbow Dash get’s the best party ever, thanks to the two best pony party planners ever. A great lesson about combining talents instead of competing.
