Raziel Reaper

I am a weird fella with love for anime, video games, fantasy novels, comics, and other geeky things. I also write game reviews: https://reapersreviews.wordpress.com/

Future Reviews: Now do note that this may change; I might forget finishing a show, or I would prefer tlaking about something else. Maybe I even prefer keeping the review for a future franchise binge, etc.

Anyways, anime I plan on reviewing include:
Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Bloom Into You

About anime:

I don't have a strict taste in anime, and I enjoy multiple genres and stories and themes regardless of the series' particular setting/tone/art/animation. If I do have preferences, then it'll be medieval low fantasy anime like Berserk or dark fantasy stuff like Fate/Zero and The Garden of Sinners. Unfortunately they are fairly rare in this medium, and when they do happen, they tend to be disappointing and shallow (like Akame ga Kill or Future Diary), but from time to time the gods of anime grace us with something worthwhile, like Goblin Slayer.

When it comes to stories, I often prefer grey vs gray narratives. I hate it when a character is either an absolute goody goody two-shoes without flaws, or a vile villain who is evil for the sake of being evil. A setting whose morals shifts between its characters is my favorite as it allows the "heroes" to show their moments of darkness, while its "villains" can present humanity they often conceal.

A big factor for me is tone consistency. If your anime wobbles between deathly serious drama and slapstick humor in the most forced and unexpected of ways, this might turn me off from watching it or taint the entire enjoyment with jarring changes and jumps.

I do not give scores... Well, not in my reviews proper anyways, as I believe people put way too much focus on a number, and scores are often just cold calculations that sometimes fail to show your true thoughts about a work; case in point, Glass Reflection Arkada's review of Sword Art Online had him blasting the series' plot and characters, yet still giving it a fairly positive 7.5/10 score.

For the time being, however, I do leave the score on this page in my anime reviewed list, so enjoy, I guess.
